The assessment

One clear answer. Not a mystery score.

Your score comes from your identity checks, your credit history and a short set of questions about how you plan and manage money. The questions can be tailored to the asset you want and the financier you pick. You always see how your score was made.

  1. 70+

    Green: you passed

Your checks and answers look good. Choose a financier and send your application.

  2. 50–69

Amber: our team takes a look

You are close. A person reviews your details and messages you with a decision. Nothing for you to do.

  3. <50

    Red: not this time

You see why, and you can answer the questions again after a short wait.

A poor credit result can never pass automatically. Our team always looks at it first.

Questions

Good to know

Does Mali Yangu lend me the money?

No. Mali Yangu connects you with independent financiers. Each financier decides on your application and sets its own interest rate, fees, deposit and repayment period. You see these before you apply.

What does it cost?

Browsing and comparing is free. There is a one-time assessment fee (currently UGX 5,000) when you verify yourself, shown before you pay and paid by mobile money. It is non-refundable.

What happens if my result is amber or red?

Amber means our team reviews your details and messages you with a decision. Red means you did not pass this time; you see the reasons and can answer the questions again after a short wait.

Who can see my information?

Your phone number, National ID number, ID photo and selfie are used only to verify you and process your application. They are shared only with the financier you choose to apply to.

Which phones does the app work on?

The Android app comes first. The App Store link will appear here when the iPhone app is ready. You sign up with your phone number.

Can the same National ID open two accounts?

No. One National ID number can belong to one account. If you already registered, sign in with the phone number you first used.
